Originally built with just three sand greens in 1918, this course evolved into a highly used 18-hole military facility. A frequent favorite of former President Eisenhower in the 1950s, Fitzsimons became an Aurora public golf course in 1998. This tree-lined golf gem is now an attractive cornerstone to a bioscience park with some of the state’s leading hospitals. The redesigned holes on the front nine, done by Richard Phelps in 2004, are a great complement to the old-time layout and strong traditions at Fitz.
64 Million Years in the Making... Fossil Trace Golf Club is one of Denver Colorado's premier public golf courses designed by renowned golf course architect Jim Engh. Located in Golden, Colorado - Fossil Trace Golf Club is nestled adjacent to the foothills of the Rocky Mountain Front Range and only 15-minutes from downtown Denver, Colorado. In its short history, the golf course has enjoyed tremendous success and is considered one the finest golf courses and golf experiences available in Denver and all of Colorado. The golf course opened in July of 2003, approximately 64-million years after the first dinosaurs walked where holes 11 through 15 now sit. As a short championship golf course, Homestead is a unique bridge between a championship and an executive course. Offering several sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels, Homestead measures over 5,000 yards, is a par 65 and has an elevation change of over 200 feet. The course features eight par 3’s, nine par 4’s and one par 5. Don’t let the yardage fool you! This links-style course, designed by Denis Griffiths, will prove challenging to the best of golfers. To master this course you’ll need to use every club in your bag. There is a complete practice facility with driving range, target greens, putting greens and a practice sand trap. The Homestead also offers two different terrains on the Nines.
Indian Peaks Golf Course, designed by Colorado native Hale Irwin, is complete with some of the best greens along the Front Range, 18 holes of championship golf, six sets of tees plus Family Tees, a color-coded distance system driving range, and chipping and practice greens. 1,500 trees, 87 bunkers, six lakes and two winding creeks guarantee a great experience for players of all abilitites. Since opening in Lafayette in 1993 Indian Peaks consistently ranks as one of Colorado's finest public golf facilities.
A former country club, Meadow Hills’ signature tree lined fairways, large lakes and lush grounds define traditional golf at its best. Extremely popular and considered the best value in the Metro area, Meadow Hill always provides an excellent round of golf, traditional golf. Meadow Hills was also an early tour stop and hosted the Denver Open in 1961.
Golfers take a step back in time at Murphy Creek. The 1920s farmhouse theme and a hauntingly wonderful and different layout have established Murphy Creek as a destination course. With more than 80 bunkers, stunning water features and wide, rolling fairways, Murphy Creek is truly a golf experience. The greens are large and fair and the prairie-links course challenges and entertains all levels of golfers. It was the site of The 2008 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. Also ranked in Golf Digest's America's Top 10 Best New Courses for 2001, the Homestead at Murphy Creek is an exceptional course, a Colorado winner.
Course Message: Plum Creek was designed by legendary architect Pete Dye and opened in 1984. The 7,107-yard, par-72 course sprawls over hilly terrain and provides spectacular views of the nearby mountains. The former TPC layout and PGA Champions Tour event host features dramatic elevation changes and railroad ties surrounding the greens– a signature of Dye’s designs. The course features many of the state’s best holes; including the Par 3 12th which consists of 10,000 railroad ties surrounding the green. “The Best Finish in Colorado” is highlighted by the par 3 17th all over water. Five sets of tees give every golfer the chance to play from their ideal yardage while still enjoying all the course has to offer.
Course Message: Perhaps Golf Digest sums up the course best, “Positioned beneath the slopes of jagged buttes south of Grand Junction, Colorado, in the shadow of the towering pink and red sandstone face of the Colorado National Monument, Redlands Mesa is like playing golf along the bottom of the Grand Canyon, with a couple of sojourns to the Garden of the Gods thrown in.” The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa is a spectacular course that occasionally overwhelms the senses in its grandeur.
